Ajmer & Pushkar Day Tour: questions people ask

What time do we need to leave Jaipur for this tour?

7:00 am is the sensible start. It puts you in Ajmer before noon and back in Jaipur by about 7:00 pm — which also keeps the whole day clear of the 9:00 pm night allowance window.

How much time do we get at the Dargah and at Pushkar lake?

Roughly two hours at the Dargah and two to three at Pushkar on a standard run. It is your day, though. If you want longer at one, tell the driver and he will rebalance — the only thing that changes your fare is distance, not how you spend the hours.

How close can the car park to Ajmer Sharif Dargah?

Not to the gate. The lanes around the shrine are narrow and usually closed to vehicles. The driver drops you at the nearest permitted point, about five to ten minutes on foot, and tells you exactly where he will wait.

Is this tour comfortable for elderly travellers in one day?

It is a long day — eleven hours, of which five and a half are driving — and both sites involve walking on uneven ground. It is done regularly by older travellers, but if mobility is a real concern, splitting it over two days with a night in Pushkar is the kinder trip.
