Jaipur to Agra taxi

Jaipur to Agra is the second leg of the Golden Triangle and the trip we are asked for most by visitors. Four and a half hours on good road, with two genuinely worthwhile detours on the way, and a fare that does not change depending on how the conversation goes.

Along the way

Stops worth making

Ask the driver and these fit into the journey. Detours beyond the direct route are charged at the per-kilometre rate.

  • Abhaneri

The Chand Baori stepwell, about 95 km from Jaipur and a short detour off the highway. Thirteen storeys of stairs going down into the ground.

  • Bharatpur

Keoladeo National Park, a birding reserve and a UNESCO site. Best between November and February.

  • Fatehpur Sikri

Akbar's abandoned capital, 40 km short of Agra. Most people give it ninety minutes and it sits naturally on the way in.

Jaipur to Agra: questions people ask

How long is the drive from Jaipur to Agra?

Around four and a half hours for 240 km with one halt. Add roughly ninety minutes if you stop at Fatehpur Sikri, and about an hour for Abhaneri.

Can we stop at Fatehpur Sikri or Abhaneri on the way to Agra?

Yes, and both are nearly on the route. Abhaneri is a short detour early in the drive; Fatehpur Sikri is almost on the road into Agra. Neither adds a separate charge on a day trip — only the extra kilometres of the detour, at your vehicle's published per-km rate.

Is a same-day Jaipur to Agra and back trip possible, and how is it priced?

It is, and plenty of people do it — leave by 6:00 am and you are back around 10:00 pm. It is priced as a return outstation trip: the full 480 km at your vehicle's per-km rate, plus tolls and UP state tax. See our same-day Agra tour for the fixed-price version with the itinerary already set.

Does the fare include Uttar Pradesh state tax and tolls?

Neither is included — both are billed at what we actually pay, with receipts. We estimate ₹420 for the pair on this route and put it on your quote as its own line so nothing arrives later.

Will the driver wait while we see the Taj Mahal?

Yes. Waiting is part of a day trip and is not charged separately; the driver will set a pickup point with you, since cars cannot approach the monument gates directly. On a multi-day trip the same applies — waiting is inside the daily running, not an extra.
